The slope of a straight line passing through the points (x₁, y₁) and (x₂, y₂) is 
[tex]m= \frac{y_{2}-y_{1}}{x_{2}-x_{1}} [/tex]

The two given points are (-3,4) and (4,-1). Therefore the slope is
[tex]m= \frac{-1-4}{4-(-3)} = \frac{-5}{7} [/tex]
