(4x^ 2 - x - 3 ) by ( x -1)

division by synthetic method

4x^2. - 1x - 3. x-1

divide the first term of each, between them

(4x^2/x) = 4x

multiply by (x-1) and substract

4x•(x-1) = 4x^2 - 4x .

Now calculate (4x^2 - 1x) - ( 4x^2 - 4x) = -1x + 4x = 3x

Now to 3x add - 3 = 3x - 3 and divide by (x - 1)

(3x - 3)/(x - 1) = 3 (x - 1)/(x - 1) = 3

So then finally add 4x to 3 = 4x + 3

So the result of the division is 4x + 3
