The French and Indian War left Britain in heavy debt, so they began to heavily tax the colonists, with acts such as the Stamp Act, Sugar Act, Tea Act. These strained relations with the colonies leading to events such as the Boston Tea Party, which led to England passing the intolerable acts. This all eventually led to the Revolutionary War
