so AD = DC

Plug in

3y + 6 = 5y - 18

-2y = -24

 y = 12

Answer

y = 12


PS. In case you need to find x

<ABC = 10 and BD is the angle bisector of <ABC

<ABD = <DBC

3x - 1 = 34 - 2x

5x = 35

 x = 7
